August Favourites 2013

This is what I have enjoyed using throughout August. This hasn't changed much since July, so there won't be as much you to update from August. Beauty and Care Products Burt's Bees Lip balm- This smells of rose and I think it smells amazing. It really helps when your lips are dry or chapped. No 7 Beauty Balm - I prefer the reddest colour as it looks natural on everyone and this really hydrates your lips. So Fab Body Spray - This smells amazing and is small enough to fit in your bag. Rimmel Day and Night Mascara - This has a lengthening and Volume Mascara as a 2 in 1 which is very useful. Clean and Clear Exfoliating Face Scrub - If you put this on before going into the shower, then it helps to wash off all the spots you might have and it works really well. Circle- movie review

Circle is one of the films I watched during quaratine. Circle is an American psychological thriller directed by Aaron Hann and Mario Miscione. The plot follows 50 people who awaken in a dark room where one person dies every 2 minutes. The people must choose vote for who the next person to be killed is. The film poses the ethical questions of what would you do? How should you choose who dies? Do you choose people based on age, gender, what their job is? Or do you randomly select who is killed based on what people have done during their lives, for example did the person have an affair? Did anyone in the room murder anyone? 7/10 - the plot is a little slow, as it is to make you think about what should happen next, however if you want a film that really makes you think I recommend this film.

Queenie by Candice Carty-Williams ~ Book Review

Queenie is the debut novel of Candice Carty-Williams. Queenie talks about the experiences of a woman, named Queenie, from dealing with a hard time in her relationship to eventually going to therapy and the stigma of mental health in the black community. 10/10- Queenie is an amazing novel, it is funny and in some ways relatable. The book also sheds light on the black lives matter movement and what it is like to be a black woman in a light-hearted easy to understand way. The book is also unique in the way that text messages break up chapters, I have not often seen this in books and found it a really good way to keep the chapter going in a modern way. You also sympathise with Queenie as her life begins to 'fall apart', as well as root for her. I think this book is best suited to those in their twenties just discovering the world as an adult.
