August Favourites 2013

This is what I have enjoyed using throughout August. This hasn't changed much since July, so there won't be as much you to update from August. Beauty and Care Products Burt's Bees Lip balm- This smells of rose and I think it smells amazing. It really helps when your lips are dry or chapped. No 7 Beauty Balm - I prefer the reddest colour as it looks natural on everyone and this really hydrates your lips. So Fab Body Spray - This smells amazing and is small enough to fit in your bag. Rimmel Day and Night Mascara - This has a lengthening and Volume Mascara as a 2 in 1 which is very useful. Clean and Clear Exfoliating Face Scrub - If you put this on before going into the shower, then it helps to wash off all the spots you might have and it works really well. What Katy Did By Susan Coolidge ~ Book Review

Sorry I haven't written any posts in a while. I've been very busy preparing for school. I read a lot and finish books quite quickly so this is my book review of "What Katy Did". " What Katy Did" is a book, about a young girl called Katy Carr. She is one of 5 children. Katy keeps trying to do nice things but they go wrong, at heart she is really a nice girl trying to do good. Katy has to go through a tough time to become patient and kind. My favourite parts of the book were, in the beginning of the story there are two bugs discussing what Katy had done that time, which made me want to read on and find out why the bugs were talking as well as what had Katy done and who was Katy? I also liked the poem that Cousin Helen wrote for Katy on Valentines day as, it explained how Katy had to become patient and kind but was still a poem. There was nothing in particular that I didn’t like. I found that I could relate to Katy as I'm also trying to do

Queenie by Candice Carty-Williams ~ Book Review

Queenie is the debut novel of Candice Carty-Williams. Queenie talks about the experiences of a woman, named Queenie, from dealing with a hard time in her relationship to eventually going to therapy and the stigma of mental health in the black community. 10/10- Queenie is an amazing novel, it is funny and in some ways relatable. The book also sheds light on the black lives matter movement and what it is like to be a black woman in a light-hearted easy to understand way. The book is also unique in the way that text messages break up chapters, I have not often seen this in books and found it a really good way to keep the chapter going in a modern way. You also sympathise with Queenie as her life begins to 'fall apart', as well as root for her. I think this book is best suited to those in their twenties just discovering the world as an adult.
