Movie Review: The Duff

Rating out of 10: 8

This movie is about an American teen, Bianca, who discovers a new label for people: D.U.F.F- Designated Ugly Fat Friend. In her attempts to 'reverse Duff' herself she seeks the help of Wesley, her neighbor, in order to win over her crush Toby.

This movie made you have all sorts of emotions: you laughed, you cringed, you understood. This is an honest yet funny perspective on the average/stereotypical American high school; it was hilarious, yet  I'll try not to give any spoilers here. As one as of the 'steps' Wesley gives to 'reverse Duff' Bianca,  he decides to have her try on some new clothes, however as she fools around this is filmed by one of the 'mean girls' who posts this online, and she becomes cyber bullied. This recognition, is what we need in cyber bullying, however it is well represented as the school shows how they deal with this over whelming problem. Luckily, Bianca becomes more confident to speak to Toby due to this. This movie portrays her troubles throughout her senior year, in a way which is understood by the mostly teen audience and by the characters.

I gave this movie an 8 because it was not my favourite movie ever, as there were times when it momentarily lost the audiences attention. Although, the term Duff, does set the plot to the movie, however is slightly over reacted by Bianca as no one except Wesley seems to know what this means.
