The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society - Movie review

Don't let the long title of this film put you off watching it, this is a historical romantic-drama film, based on the book of the same name by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows. I have not yet read the book but definitely will now, the film was fantastic.

The film is set in 1946 and follows Juliet, an author who writes under a pseudonym, however she feels unsatisified with her life. When she recieves a letter from Dawsey, asking for a book for his book club the "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society", because there are no books left in Guernsey, she immediately jumps at the opportunity. Intrigued with the story of how the club started Juliet travels to Guernsey to visit the book club. There she learns more about the members of the society, however she is intrigued by the mystery fo what happened to Elizabeth. What happened to her? And why will no one talk about her?
There is also romance, in the tension between Dawsey and Juliet. Juliet is engaged but starting to fall for Dawsey, what will she do?

8/10 - this is a captivating film. The cinematography is beautiful and makes me wish I could visit the places where this movie was filmed. This film is really a feel good film and it was interesting to see a film that show the aftermath of world war 2 rather than during the war.
