Why Go To The Gambia?

The Gambia is a beautiful place with so much to see and is also on the coast, so is near to the sea. All the pictures below were taken by me.

Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Project

The Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Project is home to over 100 Chimpanzees. In the early 1900s all wild Chimpanzees disappeared from The Gambia. This rehabilitation project is amazing to see. The accomodation is very eco-friendly and I would recommend you stay for at least 1-2 nights.

Chimpanzee Family

Here you can see how the Chimpanzees have become wild as they possibly can, and you can take a boat tour around the islands to see them. Not only can you see Chimpanzees but Baboons, Wild Boar, many different types of Birds and more. I would recommend this 10/10 to anyone, It is amazing to see.
Meals are included as well as when you arrive, you will learn about the project before
you have lunch. All the staff are extremely kind and me feel like I was at home. If you stay 2 nights this will give you the chance to take a morning boat tour as well as a morning walk. I would recommend the boat tour to go on, even though you pay extra for the boat tour it is worth it- I saw Wild Boars, King Fisher's, the place where the last Elephant in The Gambia died, Western Red Colobus Monkeys and many more, it was fantastic!

Bijilo Forest Park

This is another Monkey park but this only has 2 Monkeys there: Green Monkeys and Western Red Colobus Monkey. You get a guided tour around the park to see the Monkeys and on route we also saw some unusually grown trees as well as you learn information about the Monkeys. You walk around the park to see the Monkeys. I would recommend this 8/10 as the park was good except you are told not to feed the Monkey however my tour guide gave me some nuts to feed them anyway. This tour is free, you just give your tour guide a tip at the end.

Solomons Restaurant

On the beach in Fajara, if you walk up to the red flag there is a restaurant called Solomons. When you order the fish and chips it comes in Tin Foil and is freshly cooked. I would recommend this as the fish and chips were just perfect! I loved it, as well as it was unusual to have fish and chips in tin foil so it was a unique experience. Also as it is on the beach, you have a spectacular walk on the beach. 10/10 a unique xperience with delicious food.

The Clay Oven Restaurant

This is an Indian cuisine with amazing food, I came here multiple times during my stay. The food is amazing as well as if you eat outside the decorations are amazing and on Tuesdays there is a special "Sizzler" night, which has amazing food. The Ice Cubes here are safe to have; this is a place recommend by the MRC in The Gambia. There is a range of food to eat and all the staff were very kind. I give this place a 10/10 everything was amazing.
