How To: Make Pretzels

Hi! Here is the next in  How To... series. Today I'm going to teach you how to make Pretzels. This should make around 12-14 Pretzels but it depends on the size you make them. These Pretzels will be white, without the brown coating.

You Will Need:


1kg Flour



2tsp Fast Action Dried Yeast


260ml Lukewarm Water



2tbsp Salt



260ml Milk





1tbsp Brown Sugar



80g Butter





2tbsp Ground Almonds (Optional)

1tbsp Shaved Coconut (Optional)

2 Bowls

Wooden Spoon


Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to Gas Mark 4/ 200 degrees Celsius. Mix together 100g Flour, all the yeast and the water together. Then cover the bowl with cling film and leave for 1 hour. This will make Yeast flour (with a liquid consistency).
Once the consistency is like this, leave the Yeast Flour for one hour.


2. After the Yeast Flour add the rest of the flour, salt, Milk, brown sugar, butter, ground almonds and coconut. Now Kneed for dough for around 10 mins or until when you push the dough it gently springs back.


3. Now start shaping your Pretzels, then place sea salt and a little bit of brown sugar on top.. After you've shaped them, put them into the oven for 15mins.



4. Leave them to cool for 10 mins then enjoy!
