The Keeper Of Lost Things by Ruth Hogan Book Review

The Keeper Of Lost Things by Ruth Hogan was the second book I read during quaratine.

This book is told by 3 characters. The first character who tells the story is Anthony Peardrew, self-titled the keeper of lost things, he knows that his days are limited, however he has not managed to return any of the items he has found over the years, so he decides to leave this task to his housekeeper Laura when he passes. Anthony decides to be the keeper of lost things after his wife passes, due an item of hers he lost the day she died - I won't reveal this is a key part of the plot.

Once Anthony passes, Laura continues telling the story. Laura is a divorcee who loves being the housekeeper, as this is her escape from life. Once she inherits the title of the keeper of lost things, she enlists the help of her neighbour Sunset and the gardener, Freddy. In her story there is an insight into her life before she became a housekeeper, and even a romantic plot, will she and her love interest ever become a couple? Are her feelings mutual? There is also a story of a touching friendship between Laura, Freddy and Sunshine.

In between, Laura's story telling we hear about Eunice's life from May 1974 leading up to the present day. We see Eunice from her fist job at a publishing firm and what happens in her life as her life continues. How does Eunice's life intertwine with the lives of Anthony and Laura?

8/10 - This book can sometimes slow down a little in some chapters in order to set up what happens next but overall this is a feel good book. There are little stories throughout the book which descirbes some of the items Anthony found, which was really interesting and helped me feel connected with the items as they are discovered by Laura. This book has elements of mystery, romance and friendship.
