Vox by Christina Dalcher - book review

Vox is set in a dystopian version of the United States, where woman and girls wear counters which track how many words they say per day, if women say over 100 words they are shocked by the bracelt.

The protagonist in this story is Dr. Jean McClellan, a leading neurolinguist, who before the new government took over never voted or had any political opinions. Now she has no voice and regrets these decisions, when she is given an amazing opportuinity to potentially take down the government, as well as been given back her freedom to speak, however this may fail and she might have to put her counter back on, She must decide if she takes the opportunity, as her daughter is slowly losing her voice and her sons are beginning to believe the propaganda being taught at school.

9/10 - This book too a while for me to get into, but once I got into it the book was amazing. It really made me think what would I do in Jean's situation. The books genre is a mix of thriller, drama and romance. The romance comes from Jean's failing relationship with her husband and Lorenzo, the man who she was having an affair with.
